Whats on - current projects

This section of our website aims to give you an informal glimpse of the sort of projects and work we get involved with, by detailing some of our current projects.

For SME's...

We're developing a multi-user application for a large public sector organisation that records HR feedback and presents organisation management with useful data and graphs across the whole organisation - it is planned that the system will be rolled out across tens of thousands of users.

We're designing and building a client management system that integrates with various back-end servers and helps provide automation of key tasks.

We've developed an online catalogue website for Skye based SME - Highland Shed Company

We've recently completed a consultancy assignment advising on a medium sized (£60m turnover) company's IT strategy

We're helping our nominated charity - CIFA UK to build their first website and advise on their online marketing strategy.

We continue to offer our Green IT Audit to SME's and schools at no cost. A recent audit highlighted some great opportunities to make better use of existing server hardwares through virtualisation, as well as some no-cost ways to reduce the amount of energy consumed by desktop computers.

In schools...

As well as providing remote and onsite technical support we're involved in supporting schools through the adoption and rollout of their Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). We've put together a programme that we work through with teachers, heads and ICT coordinators.

We've started running some cross-curricular projects (primary school Year 4, 5 & 6) that combine ICT, literacy, numeracy, business and various other subjects. Working with teachers we have identified children who would benefit from interesting, stimulating and/or challenging tasks through projects that brings together all these attributes - more to follow!

Working with school ICT coordinators we're planning numerous infrastructure (desktop, server and network) upgrades to be implemented out of school hours during the summer break. This will involve new faster, more efficient IBM servers, thin client technology, re-purposing laptops and new computer desktop equipment.

We continue to provide weekly maths mentoring to years 3 to 6 through our Maths Wizards programme - having worked with teachers and maths coordinators to identify children who need interest levels raising or focus on specific areas of difficulty - we then run the programme. Feedback has been fabulous and it's great to see ICT being used to increase enjoyment and enhance standards in numeracy.
